The Open Linux Platform
Intradisk mini servers provide full access to all internal device recources when upgrading to the Root/Admin or LAMP server package. This allows you to use the standardly provided, highly tested plugins as well as providing services to other clients in your network and even the internet. Based by intradisk parallel operating systems structure you use the security of the “chroot” system and its high flexibility of easy and automated internet based installation tools. This system and services are intended to be the most economic, reliable and most available beackground services and not need to be the most performant services e.g. all applications that are accessed from the outside internet.
Available open Linux distributions
Intradisk provides some totally different and absolutely independent Linux systems, that are optimized on the special needs of totally different appications. This means that you have the choice using the distribution that fits best to your needs the differ from some of the following issues:
- flexibillity to install some of more than 7500 already available preconfigured packages from http://www.nslu2-linux.org
- install any kinds of Linux software independent of beeing preconfigured available http://packages.gentoo.org
- realizing compact embedded applications based on intradisks hardware plattform
Debian Sarge Linux
The debian sarge Linux is a package based distribution that can be used to run some preconfigured applications specially as they where preconfigured for the compatibel nslu2 plattform.
The main advantage is, to get access to many kinds of applications just using a simple net configuration and upgrade utility called “apget” which downloads and automatically install packages from the internet.

Open Embedded Linux
The package based Open Embedded Linux distribution is a highly expandable distribution which uses a simple configuration utillity called “ipkg”. This tool lets u easy download and install many out of more than 7500 available packages directly from the internet. Most of the installable packages are running very performant on the intradisk, as they are compiled and configured for a very slow but binary compatible platform. This distribution already includes a complete build environment that makes it possible to compile almost any available linux package and runs it on your intradisk.

Unslung Linux
The unslung Linux distribution is based on identical libraries like the intradisks integrated Snapgear distribution. This means, that many of more than 7500 packages of the http://nslu2-linux.org portal can be directly run from your standardly available login shell shipped with all intradisk.
Also these packes can be easily used to automatically run them after booting your intradisk as the “autorun” user. Completing running applications for the distribution makes the most easy to be integrated as plugins to be installed on

Gentoo Linux
The Gentoo Linux “meta” distribution ist the most flexible Linux system that is currently available for your intradisk. It is intended to set up a high economic and high available network or internet server which runs many background services like e.g. a firewall, ftpserver, emailserver, vpn Gateway, proxy, X11 graphics user interface...
